4 Bedroom Place in Lake Placid
Welcome to the farmhouse! First built in the early 1900's, much of the original charm has been preserved throughout the years. Approximately 20 years ago, the home was actually picked up from it's foundation, which was originally located much closer to the road and moved back on the property, being placed on a full basement. Quite the undertaking!!
We have been happy to host many guests over the past several years, including the Jamaican Bobsled Team on two occasions!! Our proximity to the Lake Placid Horseshow Grounds, the Olympic Training Center and North Country School makes our home a great place to stay for all kinds of visitors to our Adirondack region.
While we may not have all the bells and whistles of some newer homes, we can offer spacious rooms and plenty of sleeping space for larger groups. Our bucolic setting and huge yard makes us very popular among dog lovers. Your furry friends are welcome in our home! If you look in the living room closet, there are even some toys left behind by past four legged guests...woof!
Two of our four bedrooms, located on the second floor, offer double beds, while the third offers a queen bed. The fourth has two twin beds. There is a really cool claw foot tub in the upstairs bathroom too! Don't worry, it also has a shower attachment (even though you are on vacation and what could be better than a bubble bath in an old claw foot tub?).
Our main level of living has windows galore!! Nice and bright, plus the warm summer breeze can't be beat billowing in past the curtains. The kitchen and dining area is a great gathering spot...eat, drink and be merry! Our stove is a gas range with oven. We do have an old fashioned microwave, a newer 4 slice toaster, regular coffee maker plus a Keurig and dishwasher (I mean, we have to include some modern conveniences, right?).
The large country table offers extra seating and there is a spacious island offering extra space to prep big, country meals.
Our living room can get a little drafty in the winter but never fear...our grand floor to ceiling fireplace keeps the home fires burning and what could be cozier than the crackle of a nice fire? There is a full bathroom off the living room with a walk in shower.
The separate den (I know, it just goes on and on!) offers two desks for computer work, a sleeper sofa, flat screen television with Apple TV, high speed internet and a half bathroom.
We have the coolest old farmhouse porch overlooking pastures and mountains. New last year is a fire pit located in the equally spacious backyard. Our huge, old barn (sorry, it's just storage now...no farm animals are included in this rental) just adds to our beautiful setting.
We have a gas grill available for outdoor cooking, plenty of bedding, towels and even a featherbed topper for the sofa bed. We felt sorry for the poor soul that was stuck with the sleeper sofa. Our old ice boxes, just used for decor now are a great conversation piece (we actually store board games inside now instead of ice, LOL).
Located approximately 5 miles from the Village of Lake Placid and 5 miles to the Village of Keene we epitomize country living. Now that I've peaked your curiosity, won't you be our guest?
