3 bedroom (plus separate sleeping porch) 1 1/2 bath, outdoor shower. Lots of parking with room for a trailered boat. 1930s Chatham farmhouse, with all the charm. If you have a boat, or like to paddleboard and kayak, the house is .2 miles from beautiful Barn Hill landing with its oyster shanties and gorgeous views and kayak rentals. Stroll down with your morning coffee to this pristine landing on Oyster Pond, or walk to Harding's beach, one of Chatham's best for walking, fishing. If you love the outdoors, the screened sleeping porch, with clear roof, is pure heaven as you sleep under the moon and stars and in the trees. We have slept there every night for two summers. Kids can go to the beach alone (the road has a sidewalk) or walk to dunkin donuts, Larry's RX (great breakfast and lunch) the shaved ice store, Kreme and Kone, D'angelos, all without crossing Rt 28. Large mahogany deck, big fire pit, and gas grill make wonderful evenings outdoors, roasting marshmallows, looking at the stars. Full- moon kayaks are the highlight of the summer. This home has ceiling fans in each bedroom, and no air conditioning. You must supply your own linens.
This house rents Sunday to Sunday to escape the on and off Cape traffic.
Please note several things: This is a small cape farmhouse that was built in the 1930s. There is a bedroom on the first floor with a queen bed with a new top-quality mattress. The access to the second floor is a fairly steep staircase with small stairs. If you are very tall or have large feet or have trouble with stairs the second floor bedrooms will not be ideal. The bathrooms are renovated but the rest of the house has not been and retains its 1930s charm and quirkiness. In other words, if you want a brand new house this is not the place for you. If you want a still-reasonably-priced Chatham house in an excellent location you've found your perfect vacation home!
